Leftover paint never belongs in a recycling bin, but can be recycled when dropped off at free collection points year-round. Alternatively, Assemblyman Al Stirpe is co-hosting a free drop-off event soon, in partnership with GreenSheen. Registration, which is required, opens on April 1, 2026.
Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
Time: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Location: North Syracuse DMV Parking Lot, 5801 East Taft Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212
Need to start preparing ahead of time? The registration page lists both acceptable and unacceptable items for drop-off, to review in advance.
While OCRRA is happy to share details about this great community service, we are not hosting the event. Therefore, questions should be directed to GreenSheen by emailing events@greensheenpaint.com.
GreenSheen also provides dates and locations for their upcoming paint drop-offs on the GreenSheen events page.
Can’t make it to the drop-off event?
Remember, free paint recycling is available year-round through the PaintCare program. Interior and exterior latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based and enamel (including textured coatings), as well as primers, stains, sealers and clear coatings such as shellac and varnish, are accepted from households and businesses for recycling at no cost through the program. Several year-round drop off locations are available in NYS.
