12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Baldwinsville Public Library
January is National Blood Donor Month, a time to honor those who give the gift of life and inspire others to donate blood or platelets for the first time. The start of the new year is one of the most challenging times to collect blood products—severe winter weather often leads to widespread blood drive cancellations. The Red Cross and the Baldwinsville Public Library invites you to donate on January 22 between 12 and 6 p.m. Your participation makes a lifesaving difference! Come to give between Jan. 1–25 for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LX in California! Learn more: rcblood.org/SuperBowl. Schedule your appointment today and help ensure blood is available when it’s needed most.

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Mercer Park
At Mercer Park, teams of people plunge into the icy Seneca River, competing to raise money and receive cash awards for their favorite charities. A heated tent houses the Best in Bowl competition, where local eateries serve samples of their food. In the evening, the Poker Bear Express poker run takes place throughout the village. Participants explore bars and restaurants while building a poker hand to win cash or gift card prizes.

Van Buren School
Registration is live for our famous pizza event and we need your help in two ways - promote pizza sales online and volunteer to help out. We will need volunteers to drive to pick up the pizzas, help up assemble these custom pizzas that feature one slice from eight different pizzerias, and then to pass them out to our hungry and generous customers at the drive thru. A quick and fun volunteer gig!

Pizza for Pantries
Pizza for Pantries Feb 06, 2026
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Van Buren Elementary School Pizza for Pantries is a wildly popular and genius idea brought to life by Baldwinsville Rotary member Ken Schmidt. With so many pizza joints in our town, he dreamt up a way for you to try eight of them with one mega pizza that features a slice from each. Our volunteers assemble the pizzas for you to drive-thru and pick up. We label the slices in the box and provide the perfect instructions for refreshing your pizza in the oven at home. It's not a competition, but rather a collaboration designed to raise money for a trio of local food programs that truly need our support this year! View

BE GREEN: REPAIR CAFE AT LYSANDER PARK Apr 25, 2026
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Do you have a broken household item you would like fixed?

Don't throw it away- bring your broken item to us and let's give it a second life. We are partnering with Repair Cafe CNY to bring you Lysander's very first Repair Cafe! Our Repair Coaches can help you fix your item for free! This helps you to reduce waste, share skills, save money, and build community.

Join us at Lysander Town Park on April 25th, 2026, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm for an afternoon of repairing your beloved items for free! Our team of volunteer Repair Coaches ("fixers") will be on hand to help you fix things, from broken electronics to torn clothing.

This is a family friendly event, and all are welcome. Refreshments (coffee, tea, and snacks) will be provided.

Registration will open soon for this event. Be sure to register to secure your spot and let us know what you're planning to bring.

The rules for this event are as follows:

  1. Participants are limited to bring up to 2 broken items.
  2. Repairs are not guaranteed.
  3. All participants will be required to sign a waiver upon entry to the event.
  4. Replacement parts are limited, so bring them if you have them!
  5. PLEASE DO NOT BRING gas powered items, large appliances (fridges, automobiles, dishwashers), TVs/CRT monitors, or microwaves. No complex tech that requires soldering or hard-to-source part replacement (laptops). Do not bring anything with mold, pest damage, or biohazards.

Thank you to our partners for making these events possible: The Institute for Sustainability Engagement at Syracuse University, Repair Cafe International, and Repair Cafe CNY!

BE GREEN: HONORING OUR SACRED GIFTS:CONVERSATIONS WITH ROBIN WALL KIMMERER May 02, 2026 8:15 AM St Paul's Lutheran Church

Honoring Our Sacred Gifts is a day of gathering, reflection, and relationship-building that invites people of faith and people of goodwill to come together around a shared commitment: tending the world we have been given and working for justice that sustains all life.

Drawing inspiration from Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass and The Serviceberry, this event centers gratitude, reciprocity, and responsibility as spiritual and ethical practices. We will explore how environmental care is inseparable from social and economic justice — how the health of our land, water, and communities is deeply connected to the dignity and flourishing of all living beings.

BE GREEN: PAINT DROP OFF EVENT
BE GREEN: PAINT DROP OFF EVENT May 30, 2026
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
North Syracuse DMV Lot

Leftover paint never belongs in a recycling bin, but can be recycled when dropped off at free collection points year-round. Alternatively, Assemblyman Al Stirpe is co-hosting a free drop-off event soon, in partnership with GreenSheen. Registration, which is required, opens on April 1, 2026.

Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
Time: 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Location: North Syracuse DMV Parking Lot, 5801 East Taft Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212

Need to start preparing ahead of time? The registration page lists both acceptable and unacceptable items for drop-off, to review in advance.

While OCRRA is happy to share details about this great community service, we are not hosting the event. Therefore, questions should be directed to GreenSheen by emailing events@greensheenpaint.com.

GreenSheen also provides dates and locations for their upcoming paint drop-offs on the GreenSheen events page.

Can’t make it to the drop-off event?

Remember, free paint recycling is available year-round through the PaintCare program. Interior and exterior latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based and enamel (including textured coatings), as well as primers, stains, sealers and clear coatings such as shellac and varnish, are accepted from households and businesses for recycling at no cost through the program. Several year-round drop off locations are available in NYS.
